Lavender

I love using lavender for so many beneficial reasons, such as sleep, alertness, calming effects for restless children and autistic children, anxiety, and much more!

In 1996 a controlled clinical trial conducted the effectiveness of lavender to improve sleep in elderly people.  The study concluded that 72% of people receiving lavender aromatherapy slept much better than those who did not receive the oil.  Of those 72% of lavender recipients, 72% reported having a much better outlook on life, causing better days overall!

a 1995 study published in The Lancet revealed that geriatric insomniac patients benefitted greatly with daily applications of lavender to their bodies and the use of diffusing the oil in the rooms of these patients.  The study showed an improvement of sleeping time and a speedier time in which the patient fell asleep.

The University of Alaska performed a study on lavender and the effects of lowering blood pressure in healthy men.  The results showed an overall lower systolic and diastolic pressure with a reduced arteriole pressure and slower heart rates as compared to the control group.

In 2002 the University of Southampton School of Medicine study found that diffusing lavender oil was effective in treating agitated behavior to patients with dementia.

A Tokyo University study showed that diffusing 10 mg per liter of air will suppress the growth of pathogenic fungus in the air!
